 Adobe Acrobat DC Error: Content Preparation Progress

If you receive the message "Content Preparation Progress. Please wait while the document is being prepared for reading." when opening PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat DC, you may solve this in one of two ways:

 

1. If you do not need screen reading technologies:
   1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Accessibility.
   2. Under "Other Accessibility Options" disable "Enable assistive technology support".
2. If you do need assistive/screen reading technologies:

1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Reading.

2. Under "Screen Reader Options" select "Only read the currently visible pages".
